Honey, lemon, and smoked salt. The drink you want when the fire's going and the stars are out. The egg white is optional — skip it if you're drinking from a camp cup — but when you have time to do it right, the foam changes everything. Best served in a wide glass where the smoke can drift up to meet you.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz moonshine
  • ¾ oz fresh lemon juice
  • ½ oz honey syrup (1:1 honey and water)
  • 1 egg white (optional, for foam)
  • Pinch of smoked sea salt
  • Ice

How to Make It

1

Combine moonshine, lemon juice, honey syrup, and egg white in a shaker. Shake without ice for 15 seconds (dry shake).

2

Add ice and shake hard for another 15 seconds until the tin is very cold.

3

Strain into a rocks glass over a large ice cube.

4

Pinch smoked salt over the top. Serve immediately.

Pro Tips

  • Make honey syrup ahead: equal parts honey and warm water, stir until dissolved, refrigerate.
  • The dry shake (without ice) is what creates the foam — don't skip it if using egg white.
  • Just a pinch of smoked salt — it accents, it doesn't overpower. A little goes a long way.
